Sorry in advance if this doesn't warrant a new thread.
What happened at Southwark this (technically yesterday) afternoon? Announcements were saying it was closed "at the request of the British Transport Police"...curious. Anyone?

Could well be a one-under, judging by when this thread was started, because if it was anything else we would probably know and people would probably be willing to disclose, and if it had been a one-under, that also explains the lack of response, none of the staff may wish to talk about it! For further details, go to forum & site announcements, discussion about one-unders!

Unlikely to be a one-under I would have thought, as LU are usually very open about these things, and will quite happily broadcast the real reason in announcements and online. If its at police request, its usually something happening just outside the station. Just to give an example...Parsons Green was closed for a few hours a while back "at police request" due to someone running around with scissors in the alley by the station!

Unless someone else beats me to it, I'll have a look at work tomorow and see what I can dig up.

More likely to be a security alert either in or just outside the station.

The Met Police were searching for a suspect in the area and wanted to close off one possible avenue of escape. There was never any specific threat to the Underground. Beyond that it would not be wise for me to elaborate!
