I need to know if my memory fails me or not. In the early 1980s I worked in the st james park, area, and I am sure that Iwas the victoria bound platform ,when sarah siddons came through with possibly some ballast wagons during the day. ?? Would this have been possible, was it a depot movement, is sarah siddons cleared to use tunnels on district and circle. Its one of those things that nags at you!!

Yep, Sarah is IIRC clear (or was) for all subsurface lines. She worked a train of Mk2d stock in that era.

Wasn't it originally preserved as the brake block test vehicle for the engineers?

I used to see the loco with sign 'BRAKE BLOCK TEST LOCOMOTIVE' parked at Northfields in the 1970s, when it was used on the mainly EB Fast on testing. I had a cab drive with the Test team from South Ealing to Acton Town in August 1979, which was wonderful!

Yes, the engineers had a good way of making sure history was preserved by finding a use for it, like ESL118A/B as a de-icer unit as well.
