Simple easily answered question here:
At the current time, are there any refurbs being used on the Olympia Shuttle?

I believe that the refurbs are now being used as normal timetable running 'D' Stock. As far as I am aware they are not specifically allocated to any one route or service and are allocated as per the needs of the depot. So, if I am correct, they may run on the Olympia branch but it is dependant on if one is allocated that particular train number before entering service in the morning. Any District drivers out there now want to tell me I am hopelessly wrong?

20 (ish) trains have been refirbished, over a quarter of the fleet, so if you wait at Earl's Court, your chances of finding one are good.

I've been to Earls Court about 8 times in the last week, both in the mornings and evenings, and all times, bar 1, there has been a refurb standing for the service to Olympia. So I think early mornings/mid-late evenings are when you will have the best chance of getting one at Earls Court.

Has there been an occasion yet when all four EC platforms have been occupied by refurbs?

Has there been an occasion yet when all four EC platforms have been occupied by refurbs? I agree with T/O92 that it would be a good photo opportunity, but so would all four platforms filled with non-refurbs - and that sort of shot will soon be disappearing forever!

Has there been an occasion yet when all four EC platforms have been occupied by refurbs? I've seen 2 refurbs and 2 non-refurbs at EC, arranged rather nicely, with a matching pair on the inner roads and another matching pair on the outer roads... Incidentally, anyone know what the 'semi-refurb' is? I was on a train a few weeks ago which had had 2 cars repainted and had the car-end windows installed on those 2 cars, but no other interior, or apparently exterior, upgrades...was this unit just a play thing to refine the design?

That was the pre-refurb prototype. The finished article was downscoped for various reasons. MRSSL are in a bit of pickle as to what to do with it at the moment, as it would cost an excessive amount to re-refurb it (if you know what I mean?). LU are starting to talk to MRSSL about this. On another note, we (System Upgrades) have a meeting coming up with the rep's and Line Management regarding the 'D' Stock refurb. We'll try to get to the bottom of some of the problems being experienced.

What sort of problems are being experienced? (If you can tell us ) I think some drivers have posted some of the problems in a thread here somewhere (Colin will know where it is!). I know that they have complained about the standard of the paint finish in the cabs, due to the fact that the surfaces have not been cleaned before painting as an example. I am more interested in any operational problems being experienced. I understand that there is an issue with sun glare on the new Customer Information System panels in the cab. We intend to speak to the rep's and find out exactly what the real day to day issues are.

Perhaps someone with sufficient time on their hands could go through and collate a nice list for prjb to take to his meeting? I'd do it, but I've not got the time unfortunately edit: spelling

That was the pre-refurb prototype. The finished article was downscoped for various reasons. Are you sure it was a pre-refurb prototype, cause it still had the old wood floors and orange/brown interior as I recall...all that appeared to have been done was an exterior repaint and the car-end windows...doesnt seem much of a prototype to me!! It was a 2 car unit coupled to a non-refurb 2 car...

There were three cars painted in the corporate livery, with the middle car having the protype interior. The other two cars were still the same inside, with the exception of now having car end windows

It was a 2 car unit coupled to a non-refurb 2 car... Yes it is definately the pre-refurb. It is actually a three car unit and would have been coupled to another non-refurbished three car unit. The whole exterior was re-painted but only one car (the middle of the three car set) had an internal refurbishment carried out, the other two were basically the same as a normal 'D' inside apart from the end car windows. From the outside you can tell the middle car has been refurbed because the lighting is totally different from the two cars either side.
