I'm puzzled by the lack of a Hounslow destination, but if by 'Barons Court' is meant 'West Kensington West' (the box that used to straddle the Piccadilly lines east of Barons Court station) then I feel that may be the best fit for this equipment. On second thoughts re 'Hounslow' being missing there would have needed to have been another transmitter to cover all possible destinations - South Harrow, Rayners Lane and Uxbridge are also missing, as are District destinations East of 'City' (unless anything east of Earl's Court went as 'City' to another box which would re-describe them forward).

I can remember a time many moons ago (1950s) when the TD on the WB DR platform at Turnham Green was a moveable finger-board worked by the Platform Supervisor using the mark one eyeball to check the headlight codes on approaching trains... not foolproof by any means, but there was someone there to ask! I cannot recall whether there was a similar arrangement on the EB, but as the sightlines on that side were poor I suspect there was nothing except the observation of the destination plates on trains as they arrived.

My apologies - I failed to check the OP before posting my report. It does seem likely that this was the same person. Nevertheless, it would appear that the T/Op in question has now had time to deafen and confuse many thousands of people between mid July and now and has presumably not been "monitored" by a Supervisor in that time...

I travelled Eastbound on train 341 today, departing Northfields at approx 11.57am. The T/Op had a severe case of the verbals throughout my journey (I alighted at Russell Square). He never stopped, and some of his messages were unintelligible - using non-standard abbreviations (Gloucester Road was given as "Gloucester", South Kensington as "South Ken" (OK, a known contraction within railway circles), Hyde Park Corner as "HPC", Covent Garden as "Garden", and Russell Square as "Russell"). Personal belongings were referred to variously as "accoutrements", "things" etc., and interchange info went on and on and on. At Acton Town he announced that a District line train approaching alongside was for "Barking, Woof Woof!!" Now, I am all for keeping people advised, especially with the numbers of non-Londoners about for the Olympics, but this really was well over the top. My wife and I had earache on leaving the train. Is there a bonus on offer for the largest number of announcements per trip, perhaps, with a special prize for the number of different ways of saying that there is a good service operating on all lines?

As historical moves have not been excluded by present rule 1, from Aldgate I would play Hanger Lane (Jn) in memory of DD.

A-stock trains were (are) not permitted to run via Platforms 1 or 4 at Edgware Road as they are out of gauge on the curves. Before the "bang road" starter was installed at Baker Street P6, any A-60 that took a wrong signal at the Junction had to be detrained and run ECS to Praed Street Jn via Edgware Road Platform 3, "trip" past Praed Street Jn home signal to a point marked "A60 Stop" (or similar) just before the facing points, cut out what became the rear tripcock and then return via Edgware Road P2 to Moorgate to reverse and try again.
Much easier now I imagine!

Since there is (or rather, maybe, was) a regular direct service between Ealing Broadway and HSK I have always wondered about the fact that this has not been shewn on the D Stock car maps for some time now.
As I often hop across the platform at Acton Town between Picc and District EB, for points East of Gloucester Road, the HSK service has sometime caught me out, so I now go through to Hammersmith and check the destination shewing on any DR that I overtake en route.

Might this also be in connection with TfL allegedly no longer supplying BBC Ceefax with service updates information for page 436? The digital tv info service via the red button is nowhere near as useful as the analogue one was.
Info is no longer accessible concerning engineering disruptions either, but the ceefax page refers to the TfL website for this information in future.

This may be old news by now, but I haven't seen any comments recently - the light box indicators on the WB DR and Picc, and EB Picc platforms at Barons Court were working when I passed through last Thursday evening (24th Feb).

Sorry for late comment on this - have been off line for a while.
The original post reminds me of a similar problem many many years ago at Gunnersbury on the Eastbound, in the days when the unpainted "R" stocks had just appeared. A passenger had asked which train to catch for Victoria and had been advised to take a "red" train, but not a "green" one (as the NLL trains then were). About twenty minutes later and after at least two DRs had called, the passenger was seen still to be on the platform, and on being asked why, replied that he had seen ony green and "silver" trains! (It transpired that the only two unpainted "R"s were following each other in service from Richmond that day. There's nothing new in this world!!!

I suspect image "A" is North Ealing, EB platform.
