First of all, great news. Even if 5130 isn't safe at least some are!!!! ;D
They're getting rid of the spares to make it seem that the "A Stock" urgently needs replacing. That is what I call (no knocking me for this) the "S Stock" gestapo.
They always store disused underground stock in Norfolk, when I moved out there I saw a 59TS DM + T in Lenwade next to the "Bernard Matthews" turkey farm. I'll see some before they go to Newmaket to be incinerated. The A's are like Toyota Hilux pick-ups though, they will put up a fight.

The C Stock never had a usable life anyhow. Always breaking down.

I didn't say they had gone, I just heard 5104-6104-6105-5105 was going next.

5205's paint job is very very poor indeed. I didn't actually see 5105 at all during my stay in London.
Please take photos of 5173 before it's gone.

I think the S Stock might be a bit too high for the Finchley Road - Baker St Tunnels, it is a fair bit higher than the A Stock.
Could be a few issues here with the S Stock.

Sorry to bounce this topic, but I have learned that 5104-6104-6105-5105 is the next unit that shall go for the chop after 5173-6173-6172-5172, apparently it's side is buckled so badly that it's causing problems.
Well, I have heard rumours.

5232/5233 is my favourite unit, good brakes, good suspension, good acceleration after that it would be 5066/5067, because it left Shoreditch on the last public service and also on the East London Line itself.

Thank you for all your replies, so it seems that the trains and, stations are scented. As for the scents at Waterloo, they probably used the scent of lemon flavoured 'Toxic Waste' sweets.

When were they running these trains? What sort of scents did they use.

Thanks for the photos neasdena60, as far as the body is concerned it isn't in all that bad a condition! I expect that in a few weeks it would've gotten much worse! It doesn't look unsafe to move, but better to be safe than sorry!

I therefore presumes that it has been scotched to prevent it from moving. It'll have to scrapped on site! I suppose they have stripped the interior down a bit as well? I myself think that they could use a door motor from 5173 for 6179! I had to shove the door closed on that twice on the 19th August! I was on a day trip!

Any bodyparts robbed? The end is nearing for 5172-6172-6173-5173! From here on in, it's either by road of battery loco! If you can source any pictures please post them!

My hopes are pouring into 5067etc. As it was the last unit to leave Shoreditch in regular passenger service &, the last unit to run in passenger service on the "East London Line."
Tell me your favourites to be preserved

Tower Hill can't handle all trains, can it? I think I saw the old railway entrance to the old bay platform on the "East London & District" driver's eye view. If you have the DVD I suggest you examine the footage carefully coming in to Mansion House, I saw a peachy orange coloured wall in that tunnel leading in to the old bay.

I think to begin with, there was 2 bay platforms and 2 through platforms. I have a link: www.abandonedstations.org.uk/Go on misc tube &, scroll down, you'll see the abandoned platform. If anyone has any memories of it please do post them.

Alstom built the ruddy things, surely they'd maintain them to highest standard possible. Shows how much they care for their own trains.

Leave the house at 7:15 to get the 7:22 bus, only I wait much longer, finally, at 7:45 the bus comes, and I ask for a weekly and that bloke says; £9.30. You pay that with no right of complaint. On the first day, the gearbox had gone for a burton, second day it never came.
The buses are -ex TFL ones. When they first came about they were okay. Now, they leak, have a big smog coming out of the engine. Do the VOSA need DAF DB250s for dummies?
