Well, could have had me fooled , that is great that there is another hold-up in disposal. 5066, still strikes me as being a versatile and historically interesting unit, surely it would make more sense to preserve it in the end.

More news from youtube's toppackage; according to him, some A Stock will be going into warm-storage at West Ruislip just in case there are more problems. Until 2015 apparrently, really not sure if this is true, where are prjb and graeme186 when you need them?
Forgive me for saying this, but does this not seem somewhat unrealistic?

5234 is going to be the RAT unit until signalling rolls-out in 2018.

Maybe not, I'm surprised that 5066/7 is going as early as this. I agree, it is rather foolish lose flexibility. On the cleanliness front, one of the 503x units is filthy.

Which unit is going with 5066? If any? If deadmans was as right about 5132 as he was about 5179, that'll be it.

Why would they have to go by road? Only the luggage racks are gone arnt they? If 5066 has been stopped since December, I think a bit more would have been gone. You never know though, they could have done it more or less the same way in which 5179 was done. As for 5161, my betting is firmly on it, but the damaged bogie may have have it deemed unsafe for the move to Northwood. Why do the A62s suffer from damage so much? When it comes down to disposing of 6234 or 6235, it would have to go from Neasden. EDIT: That is unless, it's put into 5 car formation like in days gone by.

I suppose that these will have to go by road from Neasden as opposed to Northwood.

Here's some footage of the factory from 1993, to think of it as looking long-dead then, and long-since demolished. For lots of trains that came out of that factory, are still in service today.

On passing Wembley Park Sidings this morning at about 8am, I can advise the following: - T476 which forms 0543 Wembley Park to Baker Street was the train involved - Derailed at oulet signal on No.32 Road - 5161 is the derailed vehicle. North end unit is 5126 - Two remaining starters from Wembely Park Sidings 'blocked in' - All SB Fast services diverted over SB Local Line calling all stations - Very good service this morning given the above That's pretty much the size of it. Minimal track damage. Loss of shoe beam and minor bogie damage to the train are all that are apparent at present. The sidings were returned to full use around lunchtime. The SB fast services were actually being diverted due to an "un-related" traction current problem - although I use the term loosely. There was a problem isolating just the sidings area due to a fault in the substation, and thus the fast road was also partially lost. The RAIB have been informed (as they and HMRI are for any such incident) and, as already mentioned, it will be up to them to decide what, if any, investigation should take place. The facts surrounding the incident are already known, and will form the basis of an internal inquiry. We do know it's sustained some damage. I think we'll find out more as time goes by....

I reckon that 5161 is now the next in line for withdrawal, they wouldn't repair such things like bogies at such a stage....

Well, the only encounter with Dave I ever had, was when he was driving a train I was taking to Ealing, lots of experience and smooth and accurate on the braking.
But, what a person, he set up this forum and interacted with us. He lives on with us through this forum. End of an era....
My deepest condolences to his family, RIP.

Aside from the fact that Cravens Ltd have been out of business since 1966/7. So, parts being short have dogged the A Stock for the best part of 45 years.... Maintaining them has been (I suspect) very expensive indeed....

5130 In service today, trust me not to see the other unit Ah grand! Never mind on the other one, graeme186 is usually up to date on formations, so he may be the one to ask. 5130 was starting to have me worried, I hadn't seen it for ages....

Unless formations have changed since I was last down in London, that leaves 5130 uncoupled to anything....

According to toppackage (youtube), 5232 is earmarked for preservation. How far true is this?

I don't know if anyone remembers this, in 2004 Metrodebt said that they'd recycle the seat covers once they were done with them - is this still in force or did TfL decide to discontinue this?

I heard the driver make an announcement and hang up again, unless there's some problem with the thing upon which the PA thing rests.
