All, If anyone is going on the Aldwych visit and can get a spare ticket, I'd absolutely love to go - of course I'll pay, etc. I'd be sooooo grateful! You can direct message me through here. Thanks (hopefully in advance!) Michael
[Mods - I hope this is ok, if not, please advise]

The visit sounds intriguing - shame there probably aren't anymore tickets!

There are no tickets, one guest is being admitted for every staff member on production of their staff pass.

Thanks for that, were you the bloke in the tweed jacket?
I was wearing the long sleeved grey t shirt, people really stuck with their guest, they didnt intermingle at all. Lots of females too turned up, which was was pleasantly surprising.
The biscuits/sweets/free goodies was good!
The goodies were LU film office stuff, keyrings, reflective cycle strip, postcards, and a bag.

No cups, but we did have Abbey Well bottled Water! ;D
The biscuits were good, pulled all the stops out there. ;D
The 72ts unit was in the platform, it seemed noisy even when we nowhere near the platform. No machinery noise from former equipment rooms, and no lifts of course, so it seemed eerily quiet.

The lifts look like the original 1906 Otis. Did anyone on this forum ever do their lift training on one of these? "Punching up" in manual?

I saw the sign in the lifts, it said a maximum of 45 people could be conveyed. Even by modern standards, thats a huge number, they are big lifts! Trapezium shaped too.

Tubeboy - if you were on the 10am one, the tweed jacket bloke was me ;D If you weren't on the 10am one, it wasn't I too was impressed with how well organised it was - the Station Supervisor of Charing Cross, John, was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - a real credit - as were all the staff running it. I'm really very grateful to them all... londonboy - I was asked not to publish my photos online as we were told they were for 'personal' use only - did nobody say this to you?

Yes John was good, mind you he is an ex Northern line man! ;D
Ahh, so how did you get in if you werent staff?.....gatecrash?
I noticed when I first went in, and they had to mark me off their list, my grade on the sheet was service controller! I work in a station control room, not a line based one!
Twas a good day.

Interesting pics - the main platform looks to be better decorated for filming than when it was actually open for passenger services!

Only a section of platform wall about 1 or 2 cars long is repainted, not the whole platform.

It's a shame the replacement lifts are not as large. I'm guessing the change to smaller, rectangular lifts was for one of two reasons (or both): to allow replacement with a more-or-less 'off the shelf' design, or because passenger numbers were at an historic low when the lift replacement programme occured in the early 80s?
