Yes, there is a mock up of the 'S' Stock train in a marquee outside Euston station. We will be carrying out a number of private VIP and staff sessions before opening it to the general public on Saturday 27th. I will be there all day on Saturday with 'The Tunnel Rat' if you are around.

Nice - might see if I can make it down. If you see someone who looks like a used car salesman its probably me.
Got leaving drinks for a work colleague the night before though, so will have to see how that goes!

I'm a bit confused. The media are saying these are the air conditioned trains to arrive yet, surely they've forgotten about the Victoria Line 2009 stock? On the youtube video tour of 2009 stock from ITN London news, they point out the air con type system.

The 2009 Stock won't have air-conditioning*, but they were bragging about it having a much better ventilation system.
(* air-conditioning specifically means the air in the carriage is colder than outside)

Victoria 09 stock is not air conditioned in the carriages It simply has a better forced air system directed at hight level rather than placed in the centre of each seating section. So the new S stock will be the first air conned trains.

rear. I'm not going to be able to get there this Saturday - have been "gently reminded" that I promised to go with the Missus to see her parents.
Anyone fancy taking on the awesome responsibility of taking some photos for London Reconnections on my behalf?

Taken from one of the links above, the mock up is available to the public for viewing: Saturday 27 September, 10:00-16:00 Monday 29 September to Thursday 2 October, 09:00-19:00 So you have more than one day to visit if that proves convenient. On the point of taking photographs:photography is not allowed unless agreed by prior consent. Where photography is allowed (ie, permission granted), the images must not be used for anything other than personal pleasure - this means uploading them to the internet, publishing them in books, newspapers, magazines, etc will land you in bother with Bombardier. Obviously there will be official images taken & published in official places, but to anyone else caught doing so without the correct consent..........don't say you haven't been warned!

Heh. Fair enough.
I should hopefully be getting the media ones today anyway, so it was more for atmosphere than anything else!

I don't think it will be as bad as everyone thinks. The thing with the seats in this carriage is that they are usable and comfortable. We sat in the 4x4 facing face to face with two tall men and our knees didn't touch at all! So much better than being smashed in. You also have a proper seat for your bum instead of hanging half off the edge like it does on current trains. (referring to the bench seats made for 3 that only seat 2.5)
