Apparently there are (in TFLs own words) SEVERE delays on the whole Piccadilly due to signalling problems at Holloway Road.

Tunnel Telephone wires detatched from the wall and lay across the track thus traction current discharging as though the TT phone had been operated. Station starter bobbed a couple of times and the track circuit went down for a spell.

Then a security alert at Erol's Cat.
Currently has minor delays across the whole line...officially.

I used to catch the repair work on these jobs as I was a permanent night man. On the Picc the favourite places for T/T wire problems were east of Manor House and just either side of Finsbury Park due to tunnel seepage causing chemical degradation and weakening of the cadmium copper wires until the tension caused them to snap. Usually a double whammy, but not always, in terms of automatic discharge of traction current and often blowing the fuse of the nearest track circuit. There are some very damp spots in those areas and Hounslow West-Hatton Cross has similar but less frequent problems caused by continual running water causing low insulation problems. making the repair to a broken wire was always interesting with the hazards of hot working, pouring molten solder with pot and ladle and of course tensioning the wire ! One of my former managers who went to work on the JLE introduced a new repair method using crimps, the same type used on glider tow lines, and I believe that method is approved for use on all lines these days.
