This kind of thing really hacks me off, worked somewhere that had 'disable toilets'... Was that an instruction? The group "Signs that fascinate and intrigue" on Facebook has many, many examples of signs like this.

I'll always remember the sign above the Gents door of the Public Conveniences in Mousehole, Cornwall. It said 'No Dumping'. I've got a photo somewhere ... for posterity.

There's a similar one in the Petticoat Lane area - which backs up the prohibition with the threat of CCTV monitoring and a fine of £2,500.

Not being one to be picky, but if you open that in Adobe and zoom in on the pantone, it looks like its been edited.

Really? Some of them have a habit of inserting random symbols in as well, which gives the slightly bizarre impression of a swearing display.

I havent seen that, but then I don't use the Piccadilly that often, and a lot of the time those displays have been turned off.

About three times when I went on the Piccadilly, it had symbols instead of letters, so the sentences looked really odd.

Ive got a picture of the symbol thing somewhere. It spelt Ruislip with a few dollar signs and a couple of exclamation marks! Very creative. Maybe the old circuits are wet?

The DVA software is a bit odd all round from what I can tell, really - we have several trains that refuse to announce certain stations, the most common of which are Kings Cross, Hammersmith, Acton Town and Hounslow West... ie, four of the most important stations to announce connections at, and three of which require Mind The Gap announcements. Reports of defects always come back with "awaiting software update". Oddly, I had a train a couple of weeks back that, instead of announcing "Heathrow Terminals 4 and 123" was announcing "Heathrow Terminals 123 via Terminal 4". I've no idea if that was one of the elusive software updates or not. DVA was cobbled onto the train at a later date rather than designed with it, which doesn't help matters much.

I think 'Heathrow Terminals 123 via Terminal 4' sounds better than 'Heathrow Terminals 4 and 123'. I wonder what that train announces when it's going to T5.
