I remember reading somewhere that all 6 platforms at T5 station are connected, and at the london end of the HeX platform at T5 on the LU side (number of which escapes me, 4 I think) there appears to be a crossover facilitating this.
Am I going barking mad or is there a physical connection?

There is no connection.
The LU and HEx platforms are seperated by glass and concrete walls.

Right I am going barking mad then! I know that there is walls in the way, you have to go all the way up to Arrivals level and back down to transfer between the two.

At Mezzanine level (one floor up in the escalators), as well as Arrivals.

Also it's a pair of island platforms, so they'd need to go out of their way to provide a direct route between them.
