Was this three-car unit ever used on regular Piccy services, like on Saturday and Sunday when the branch was closed?

The normal unit earmaked for the Aldwych shuttle was 1750,but from time to time another unit was used and 1750 was used for the main line Picc.

There was a film shown at LURS many years ago of 1750 + 1959 Stock at Turnham Green EB. I seem to recall it used to have peeling roof material so looked 'balding'!

It ran on the main quite often. I was always pleased to get it so I had somewhere safe to put my tea can.

How often is the Aldwych train driven - to keep the tracks in use, etc? Is it ever taken any further north than the spare platform at Holborn? Tthat would be a cool train ride...

Maybe on no more than a handful of occasions every month, sometimes much less. It will never run north of Holborn signal PD10 because the points are secured in the normal position in order to keep the train locked on the branch. Station staff at Holborn have been known to go for occasional familiarisation trips to Aldwych, however.
