So Belsize Park southbound platform has had daylight fluorescent tubes installed for about a week now, on the face of it looking very blue however you quickly realise its supposed to be more naturally daylight. I see today this has been followed up by Mornington Crescent going daylight. Daylight Full Spectrum 6500k Activa tubes to be precise. How do we all feel? Has our wellbeing improved or do we just feel like fish in an aquarium. I'd love to see these trialled on a train as well as on platforms. Its only when a train pulls in or you look toward the stairs that the illusion of daylight is shattered imho. My other concern the other week was the number of drivers coming into the platform looking at the ceiling...

I believe all the D stocks were changed over to "daylight" bulbs before the refurbs started. The refurbs differ slightly because there are actually shades over the lights, wheras the non-refurbs just have bare flourescent bulbs.
AFAIK the only car to still have the original type of bulb is 17008, the trailer in the prototype refurb unit, which last time I saw it had noticeably yellow lighting in the trailer in contrast to the bluer light in the other cars of the train.

A fact which makes 17008 stand out very clearly when you pass it in a tunnel In fact 17008 has the same colour tubes at the original lighting, but I think they are a different size, being non standard I assume is why they have not been replaced.

Reading on somebodies blog site, the blue bulbs at Belsize Park, Chalk Farm and Mornington Crescent are a part of the tunnel cooling project. The theory is you'll feel cooler waiting in the blue light.

I felt like one of my late leopard geckos standing at Belsize Park the other day - it's ideal for reptiles in the hot summer weather... It would be modern platform art to have lizards running up the walls, and give the mice some competition...[back to work now, James...]

ATO your comment made me think of mirror balls, and then my mind started thinking of turning the southbound platform at Angel into a dance floor...

Don’t forget fluorescent tubes get dimmer with age too. I’ve seen some really dark corridors due to dirty old tubes. It seems the lampys don’t like visiting some stations!

The said Light's have now been removed from Belsize Park Southbound.
The people of Belsize must of been complaining as they are still in place at Chalk Farm

Yep, spotted that this morning. Belsize SB looks very grubby again, perhaps its time for another "modernisation programme". I notice the old clock has also been removed from its mount, I hope they return it in good working order.

I think the 1992TS have had the "Daylight" tubes installed sometime in 2006.
