I apologise in advance as I know there is a thread somewhere about this, but I cannot find it.
Anyway, I believe that every spring or summer there is a guided walk done over the old Northern Heights railway (Finsbury Park to AlexandraPalace) by an author who wrote a book about it. Can anyone point me in the direction of this please, as a friend and I want to do it this year.
Thanks

Jim Blake does indeed do a tour of the Northern heights every year. It takes place on the first sunday in July. I booked a trip two years ago [Sadly couldnt go in the end] and it was £6 then.
I advise you book early, as places are limited. He does the Finsbury Park [Starts 1030] -Highgate section. Then lunch is taken. Alexandra Palace section follows, then a vintage bus takes you to Mill Hill East, and the section to Edgware is then done. The vintage bus returns you [if you wish] to Finsbury Park by 1900.
As for booking, it has to be done through the North London Transport society.

If anyone is interested, I have had a reply from Roy Johnson saying "I am sorry but there are no plans to do a walking tour this year."

I was under the impression Jim Blake did a walk EVERY year!

That is what I was lead to believe. I have replied with the following But he has not bothered to reply.
I am a member of a few forums. With the right amount of advertising on the forums I think that this could have sold out within days. If I knew how to get hold of Jim Blake I would ask his price to do the walk. All profits would then have gone to charity.

I was due to go on one with Hywel Williams in May 2005, but couldn't get anyone to go with me, and didn't fancy going alone. But it may be worth asking him if you get no reply from Jim Blake. If not, then maybe we can try and organise our own, maybe trying to get LTM involved as well?

I still have not had a reply to my second email from Roy Johnson. Does anyone know how to contact Jim Blake direct?

Is that his email or a guess? I ask because the profile for that address says the owner is a 25 year old bus driver!

I have had it for ages, I dug it up on my contacts list for one of my old [still running] email addresses. I believe its his, although it may not be anymore.

I'd be up for this adventure! Perhaps a pole is required?
