Just wondering - why in the Line Information book is the Traction Current reset plunger specifically mentioned - and not for anywhere else?
Are these reset plungers not common items on the system these days, or was Tooting Bdwy siding prone to current loss; or is it a hangover from when there were regular reversers here with Morden being full?

If a driver winds up too quickly once leaving the siding the siding circuit breakers will trip.
There is a reset plunger in the tunnel and one on the platform.

But why is the one in Tooting siding the only one routinely mentioned? Are there ones available for Colindale, Archway, East Finchley, and Finchley Central?

No other siding has them, as far as I know... You are allowed two plunges, and then if that fails, use the phone, [assuming that works...]

Then the SS has to go into the tunnel into a little cupboard and reset the circuit breaker manually.
Fun!
I believe Kennington Siding has a similar set-up. Could be wrong.

Got a Northern Line Signal Layout and Route Diagram book; no mention of it there, but does mention that KEN SDG can accomodate two trains, as long as tripping past the fixed train Stop is done...

Never been in Kennington siding, but I'm sure I've read that the same Platform equipment is at Kennington as Tooting Broadway. Obviously doesn't mean the same equipment in the tunnel.

you will find that if the train starts to motor with the signal stil displaying a red aspect the traction fuse for the siding will blow the plunger is there to let the signal opertor that the train is ready to depart thus clearing the signal i know when i was a apprentice (seems like ages ago now) golders green had the same set up as tooting and regularly happening btw this was abck in 1994

The plunger at Tooting Broadway def resets the traction current. Another circuit breaker is located at the headwall of the southbound platform - which also is the tunnel telephone unit for the siding.
The circuit breaker is located in a cupboard just in the southbound tunnel, just before the siding.
I know of at least one train that has fairly recently started up against W10 (the siding shunt) and it didn't blow the circuit breaker.
Interestingly there is a bell installed in which the SS can press a button and the bell rings in the siding, to wake up remind the driver they need to leave the siding.
