Does anyone know how many trains are stabled in South Harrow depot? And what time they come out in the morning and in which direction they come out at? Thanx

None. THIS THREAD is a long speculative discussion on how they could be used in the near future.

Accordin to TT42
T372 is the South Harrow overnight stabler.
Comes out 0518 and forms the first Acton Town service from South Harrow. (the first Rayners Lane - Acton Town train leaves at 0531)
On a Sunday it's 0649 again the first Acton Town service from South Harrow (First Rayners Lane - Acton Town leaves at 0700)

I was thinking it was one train, I know a night turn puts it away in the siding then taxis back, but not sure about the morning arrangements.

Doesn't it make more sense for the driver to stay in the accommodation at the station and bring it out next morning

The most comfortable place at South Harrow was the Booking Office, the 'facilities' in the old running office area leave a lot to be desired unless they have been improved in the last 4 years. Brian

I hadn't considered overnight stablers. When did this train start stabling there?

The single South Harrow stabler has been going on for years TOK!!
@ 'happybunny': your own line does something similar! Train 110 is stabled at Richmond by an Earls Court night driver who gets a taxi to Acton Town. The train is bought out of Richmond in the morning by an early turn Earls Court driver, who is also taxied, of course.
Upminster night drivers also have a taxi from Acton to Barking on Saturday nights.

If it is the one I am thinking of it is wrecked inside! When 83 stock was being moved to Acton Works we used to have to go and put the track circuit fuses in because the rails rusted under the stabled trains and the tracks didn't shunt. I think at that time the one train that should have stabled at South Harrow didn't always and we also got grief with the programme machines there. Brian

Which on Saturday TWO drivers stay in At Stanmore I seldom visited the station at night, it was a drive straight down the car park to the IMR. I regularly did frame contact cleaning there in my last couple of years and it was one of the last sites I worked before I retired. I dunno why but all the Jubilee sites were cold holes including Charing Cross IMR but especially places like Willesden Green, Finchley Road and Neasden IMRs. The one I liked best from a comfort standpoint was Wembley Park but of course out depot was there as well and usually far too comfortable! Brian

I wonder if those remaining 83ts can actually be moved. Being there for so long, I bet the motors have seized up.
Still, I did hear one tale of someone who slept in a room in the old station building on the eastbound!

I know one car from Uxbridge is now being used as a radio station base for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children's Radio Lollipop. The carriage is a real bonus for the patients. It allows the children to meet others, have fun and relax away from the ward environment. It's also a practical idea as they are now rebuilding two-thirds of the hospital so the tube gives radio station a permanent, interesting home
