If this goes ahead,will the ticket machines be able to issue privilege tickets?

There is an on-line system for booking privilege tickets run by the Rail Delivery Group that is gradually being rolled out to TfL people who are entitled to priv tickets. My wife and I have this facility but I'm aware it's not available for all yet. As with other on-line tickets, it will issue an e-ticket if that's available, but where not available, it will issue a code for collecting tickets from a ticket machine. One example, not likely to be necessary for TfL for, who have their staff Oyster cards, is for cross London tickets as LU doesn't accept e-tickets.

I'm retired and live outside London. I am on line but the wife is not. Will I be able to print the ticket as I can with football tickets and what about reservations which I make at the same time as buying tickets.

Just watching that Tommie Jessop Goes To Hollywood thing on Monday evening reminded me yet again what a sh* idea it is to get rid of staffed ticket offices.

Also, the booking office staff, from their experience, can often come up with a cheaper fare than is readily offered to the passenger either on line or by the ticket machines. A back door fares increase! |

I am also retired and live well outside London so I along with my wife have retired PTACs. With Mr Khan's ULEZ coming into force hopefully us retired will also have access to on line ticketing. As it is I have to get a train from an unmanned station that has TVMs to a station that has a ticket office. If anybody knows anything about Northern Trains getting on a train without a ticket is a risky procedure. That is despite the fact I can't purchase the tickets I want from a machine.

Also this airline thing... Trans Pennine and LNER are issuing tickets for people on diverted flights... how do you explain THAT to a ticket machine?

A few weeks ago I bought a ticket from a staffed Elizabeth line ticket office on a Friday for travel on the following Sunday. All went well except that on the Saturday, when I was researching train times (on the National Rail website) I discovered that there is a ticket called 'Sunday Out Return' that was quite a bit cheaper than the ticket I had been sold at the station. www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/tickets/sub/ |

I don't think the DfT officials realise that ticket gates can't be in operation without staff nearby. The revenue loss will be significant.
