Judging from the guesses above I'd hazard a guess that the connection is Christmas-themed stations (e.g. TURKEY, ANGEL, STAR)?

You have the link (the stations all have Christmassy names), 3 of 4 locations and one inset: Inset A2: Star Yard, City of London [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Turkey Street - shelter on northbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location C: Angel - directions to Arsenal FC at exit [Chris M] [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location D: Shepherd's Bush (Overground) - Southbound starting signal [Chris M] (click for a larger version) A clue for Inset B2: (click for a larger version) On this occasion the link between locations will also help you with the insets.

Location A: Pudding Mill Lane (new) - area at top of southbound lift [Chris M] (click for a larger version) A further clue for the insets: They're all in London and all photographed by me over two days last week.

I am suitably ashamed for not having spotted this sooner but inset B1 is Star Lane Park seen from Star Lane in Canning Town.

I am suitably ashamed for not having spotted this sooner but inset B1 is Star Lane Park seen from Star Lane in Canning Town. Gosh. Me too. The flats in Trinity Gardens so obvious now you've said it. Must say though it's changed so much since I played football at Star Lane in the early 80's!

I have a funny story to tell about the bus stop visible in that picture. Back in the early 2000s, when paper tickets were still a thing, I was part of a sort of church outing from Star Lane to Victoria Park. Some people went in their cars but about 25-30 of us went to the bus stop to catch the 276. The group leader offered to buy everyone's tickets in bulk to keep things simple which meant that they ended up with a ridicuously long reel of tickets! As I was the sort of boy who collected these things, they very kindly offered the ticket reel to me to keep. As might be expected, it had pride of place in my collection!

Sounds a bit like when I was doing one of my early tours by train, the booking office was closed when I set off so I asked the Guard for the eight tickets (now former HWMBO) and needed to make the tour. By the time they had all printed they string of tickets was able to reach from one side or the carriage to the other!
