"Electric Underground trains served the station from 21 November 1948" (Chigwell) To be more specific, 21 November 1948 saw the simultaneous opening (for tube trains) of 2 sections of the Central line: Woodford to Loughton/Hainault and Greenford to West Ruislip. That's why Ruislip Gardens was chosen as well.
