St. Pancras' roof is vaguely seen in A, with a new type of banner repeater.

B could be Willesden Junction (the link between the DC and NNL?)
D inset (outset?) I think is Aberdeen

Outset in B looks almost like Islamic tilework - How about the Registan in Samarkand [just dropping names!]

My aesthetic side likes the colour purple as the link.

Like Brigham, I note the red brick and the Eurostars in the background of A - I'll go with St Pancras also

Outset in B looks almost like Islamic tilework - How about the Registan in Samarkand [just dropping names!] Or somewhere nearer home - Leighton House?

Bit of a guess but is A where the WLL used to go under Earl's Court Exhibition Centre?

A respectable tally between you, but there is still more to get. First, here is what you got correct: Location A: Between Kensington Olympia and West Brompton - view north from Lillie Road in August 2016 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Background A: St Pancras International Station Eurostar Platforms [ Deep Level] (click for a larger version) Location B: Between Kensal Rise and Willesden Junction - new lines [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location D: Between Canonbury and Dalston Junction - view east from Cannonbury platform 2 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Background D: Aberdeen station concourse: January 2017 in the latter part of rincew1nd 's #GrandUKtour [ rincew1nd] (click for a larger version) Next the clues: The link isn't related to colours, although I have saved that idea for later Background B - this is Islamic tilework, but geographically it's somewhere closer to midway between London and Uzbekistan than to either of them. (click for a larger version) Still to find therefore: Background B Location C Inset C Link

Regarding Background B, the wikimapia suggests that this is located in Yaroslavl on the Volga. Yaroslavl has no shortage of churches and chapels with onion domes so I suspect the tilework [in the Islamic style but without the calligraphy element ] comes from a church rather than the sole mosque in the city. How about St Alexander's chapel?

This doesn't come from a religious building or from a building in Russia. The Wikimapia link is an accidental left-over from a previous question.

Does the link have anything to do with the fact that these locations are all DC electrified parts of the Overground?

That they are all on the Overground is one part of the link, but the main part is nothing to do with electrification.

This doesn't come from a religious building or from a building in Russia. The Wikimapia link is an accidental left-over from a previous question. Is it a building in Istanbul? 19thC. Maybe Haydarpasa or Sirkeci stations?
