A looks like the Surrey Street entrance to Aldwych. C looks distinctly neglected, so I'm wondering if the link might be closed stations.

Is D Drayton Park? If so the link might be closed or former London Underground stations beginning with successive letters of the alphabet. The next could be Essex Road.

Between you you have the four locations, now we need the link and fifth in set. Answer: Location A: Aldwych - exit door [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: North Wembley - Exterior [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location C: Mudchute - entrance to northbound platform in August 2009 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location D: Harold Wood - entrance to main building from footbridge in November 2016, viewed from Station Road [Chris M] (click for a larger version)

A thought for the link. Aldwych has 1 platform (since about 1917), North Wembley 2 platforms, Mudchute 3 platforms and Harold Wood 4. So the next in the set should have 5 platforms. Historically, Acton Town had five until the closure of the South Acton branch, Ealing Broadway has vie Underground Platforms, but now TfL rail has been added to the mix, it cannot be that one. Golders Green?

I am wondering if we can carry on with 6, 7, 8 platforms? How far might this series go?

Counting only platforms regularly used by TfL services, we can get to 8 then 10 and 12 but I don't think there are any with 9 and 11. 6 - Barking, Canary Wharf DLR, Canning Town, Earl's Court, Embankment, Euston (LU), Highbury & Islington, Wembley Park (Wimbledon if you include trams) 7 - Ealing Broadway B - Bank, King's Cross St. Pancras, Moorgate 10 - Baker Street, (Bank-Monument if counted as a single station) 12 - Stratford
I think the highest numbered platform TfL services call at is 26 - the arrivals platform at Waterloo W&C. The DLR's highest is 17 at Stratford, LO can use platform 17 at Clapham Junction but in regular service I think it's 8 at Highbury & Islington. TfL rail maxes out at Liverpool Street with 18.
