Sorry I don't think A can be Holborn as the top flight is four escalators and the lower flight is 3 escalators without any fixed stairs. I think I see a Mallard in picture B.

Inline versions of E and F and all large versions now working. Having spend much of last month trying to type "Jul" rather than "Jun" it seems that while half asleep last night I did the exact opposite.

I think I see a Mallard in picture B. There can only ever be one "Mallard", but No 4468 seems to pop up in all six pictures. Today is the 80th anniversary of Driver Duddington's and Fireman Bray's exploits at Little Bytham, setting a world speed record for steam traction that still stands today. (All right, so it was for less than 100 yards, downhill, and resulted in a big-end bearing failure: but it still counts)

Location C is bothering me. I'm going to take a guess at Stratford International.

So, could A be Angel station, the longest escalator, and with today being the anniversary of the Mallard setting the world steam record, is the link something to do with record breakers? PS not sure how the rest fit in but thought I would, have go none the less.

That answers why today, but not why these locations. PS not sure how the rest fit in but thought I would, have go none the less. If these stations are record breakers, that isn't why they were chosen.

I think the inset is The Mallard and a Deltic - 55019, at Doncaster.

I think the inset is The Mallard and a Deltic - 55019, at Doncaster. Not sure of the location, but the Deltic is sporting a headboard reading "KOYLI Group", suggesting it is No 55002 (Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry)

I was torn between that and Stratford International and ended up guessing the wrong one 😣 I was drawn to Star Lane for a bit but staring at it long enough led me to Lewisham 😊. At this rate we'll be sharing the points equally across all members haha

B is Leyton. I can see the door of a 92 stock through the glass.

I suspect A is Marble Arch.
If so, then the initial letters spell out Mallard.

Location A: Marble Arch - escalators [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Leyton - normal and matchday stairs to eastbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location C: Lewisham - under middle emergency stairs [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Bonus answer: The initial letters of these stations spell "Mallard", which made it's record breaking 126 mph run 80 years ago today Almost all done now, just where the photo of Mallard was taken (it wasn't Doncaster) to find.
