I'm fairly certain that Location D is an Edgware branch station which leads me to a theory about the link. If D is Edgware itself then the connection is that they are Northern line stations corresponding to letters of the alphabet: A for Angel B for Belsize Park C for Colliers Wood (There are no 'D' stations on the Northern line) E for Edgware Therefore the next station will be F for Finchley Central.
EDIT: I did not see davethewomble's answer when writing this. I did have a brief thought about Burnt Oak & Archway but discounted it in favour of what I ended up writing.

Answer: Location A: Angel - lower circulating area from northbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset A1: Chicago El - train crossing [ londonstuff ] (click for a larger version) Inset A2: Ropley, Mid Hants Railway [ caravelle ] (click for a larger version) Inset A3: London Bridge at night [ melikepie ] (click for a larger version) Location B: Belsize Park - left-most arch of station building [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset B: Fountains Abbey in December 2014 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset C1: Cannon Street railway bridge [ androom ] (click for a larger version) Location D: Burnt Oak - ticket hall from footbridge [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Clue: Location C: (click for a larger version) By my reckoning that leaves location C, clue above, insets C2, D, fifth in set. You’re sort of heading in the right direction for the link.

It’s not Clapham South, but you’re close.

In that case it has to be Balham. I can't see what the 5th station is going to be though.
EDIT: I've now realised that these stations are respectively the 1st, 5th, 3rd and 7th alphabetically on the Northern line which suggests that the 5th in the set is Charing Cross (the 9th alphabetically).

Location C: Balham - station announcement point on southbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) You might want to think about where the stations are.

I've got it! These are the Northern line stations in zones 1,2,3,4 respectively that come first in the alphabet. The 5th in the set will be Edgware as it is the first alphabetically in zone 5.
Also my last guess at the link was completely bogus as for some reason I forgot about Brent Cross [facepalm].

I will guess again. I think the link is that they are the first Northern line station alphabetically in zones 1,2,3 and 4 respectively, and being in only 1 zone (thus disqualifying Archway). If so, then I believe the fifth would be Edgware. Whoops! xplaistow beat me to it!
