Think C is the view from the Outer Rail just after Grange Hill towards Hainault.

Answer: Location A: Between Chigwell and Roding Valley - bridge over Buckhurst Way from south [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Between Chigwell and Grange Hill - western portal of Mount Pleasant Tunnel [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location C: Between Grange Hill and Hainault - view east from outer rail train in April 2018 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Still looking for location D, which is not modified. Also the link, fifth in set and the bonus.

Is the link something to do with the Hainault-Woodford branch (although it isn't a branch any more, so I am giving away my age). So location D could be between Roding Valley and Woodford.

Maybe link is then Hainault/woodford loop with ATO services starting in April 1963, although services started on the 5th.
So would say the 5th in set would be picture of 1960 Tube Stock
By deduction would say D is between Woodford and Roding Valley.

The link is related to the Hainault loop, but it's a more recent event than 1963. D is not between Woodford and Roding Valleey and the 5th in the set is not a train.

Roding Valley, Chigwell, Grange Hill, Hainault, Fairlop and Barkingside changed from Fare Zone 5 to Fare Zone 4 in Jan 2007
So clue D between Hainault and Fairlop and the 5th between Fairlop and Barkingside.

You have D, the fifth in the set and the link (effectively) but not why it was chosen for 12 April. Location D: Between Fairlop and Hainault - western end of Walden Way [Chris M] Link: This is a journey along the Hainault Loop Fifth in set: Between Barkingside and Fairlop

Was the link that through services operated or possibly ceased from woodford to central london via hainault without the need for change of trains on this date.

It is about the operation of trains, but not about changing at Woodford.
