Using materials recovered from withdrawn BR Mk2 carriages for the station buildings is a splendid example of re-cycling. I suppose the original station was destroyed in the Explosion?

As far as I am aware, this is the first station in this area. It is approximately on the original route of the North London Railway but there wasn't a (pasengr) station here. With the expansion of the Royal Docks the railway was rerouted and this stub became the freight-only Silvertown Tramway, which had no passenger facilities.
Silvertown, latterly Silvertown and London City Airport, which was some way to the east survived in service until 2009 when the North Woolwich branch was closed and was demolished circa 2012 as part of building Crossrail. The buildings lost in the last decade dated only from the 1970s, the previous 1885 building was presumably damaged in the explosion but I can't find any detail with a brief search.

It looks like there wasn't originally a building on the road-side eastbound platform of the Silvertown station, which when the line was double-track would make sense as that platform would only have been for North Woolwich traffic. Instead the station building was on the westbound platform in the middle of the "V" junction between the Connaught Tunnel route and the Silvertown Tramway - hopefully this link works! goo.gl/images/uKV1bwI think the new (and final) station building on the (by now) single track line opened when the North London Line was diverted from Broad Street in the mid-80s, then had a mild makeover around 1989 for City Airport traffic (which never amounted to very much, given the target demographic of the airport's passengers).
