Hypothetically speaking, what are the dangers of 'falling down the gap' (assuming that it is noticed and the train does not proceed)?
What could cause a fatality if, say, someone, in clear view of station staff, de-trained, stumbled back, and fell down the gap?
(I'm assuming the victim does not scramble into contact with a live rail.)

The live rail is furthest from the platform. The issue **would be** being noticed. It'd be easy to do at a platform with significant curvature, eg Bank CL.

The live rail is furthest from the platform. Well, there is a live rail in the centre. I was just excluding the possibility of electrocution because that's obvious. Again, I specifically said in cases where the victim was seen by station staff falling. Imagine, for example, an instance where a staff member sees someone get off a train, pass out, and fall back into the gap. Clearly they are going to ensure that the train does not depart. How, in this type of incident, could there be a fatality?

It'd be easy enough to get a significant blow to the head...

I think that the consequences would be similar to falling off any other three foot drop. With that established, there probably isn't much else to discuss. Thread locked.
