A new week, and a new month; so plenty to get your teeth into! Question: Identify these four stations and the link between them. Location A: (click for a larger version) Location B: (click for a larger version) Location C: (click for a larger version) Location D: (click for a larger version) Bonus question: One of these stations is the first to appear 16 times. How many days ago did it last appear? Perhaps for the first time, you get a meta-clue with the question. Click here.

C is the shopping centre outside High street Kensington, which I believe has the honour of the first station to appear 16 times. B I think is somewhere on the northern end of the Piccadilly.

I agree that A is Gants Hill, looking towards the A12 going to Newbury Park. I aslo agree with Hight Street Kensington for C. D looks like the pre-refurbishment Shepherd's Bush (Central line).

After all these multi-part answers I'm glad of the upcoming days off! A is Gants Hill looking east. Location A: Gants Hill - exterior in January 2008 [Chris M]
(click for a larger version)B I think is somewhere on the northern end of the Piccadilly. It's on the north end of a line, but it's not the Picc'. It's also an unmodified image so no clue version.C is the shopping centre outside High street Kensington... Location C: High Street Kensington - Entrance at Christmas time [caravelle]
(click for a larger version - which does work, thumbnail under repair right now!)D looks like the pre-refurbishment Shepherd's Bush (Central line). Location D: Shepherd's Bush (Central) - ticket hall before rebuilding [Chris M]
(click for a larger version)
So, on to the backgrounds: D insert - Lincoln Cathedral? Background D: Lincoln Cathedral at dusk [Chris M] (click for a larger version - which does work, thumbnail under repair right now!) No guesses on the other two, so see if these help at all: (click for a larger version) (click for a larger version) And finally...... C is the shopping centre outside High street Kensington, which I believe has the honour of the first station to appear 16 times. As far as I am aware High St has yet to appear 14 times, it's certainly not on the list of ones that have appeared 15 times!

I guess that's what happens when you answer the quiz very early in the morning on mobile - no meta-clues and no memory of what was on the list

I can't check at the minute, but I think this was HSK's 14th or 15th appearance. I'll let you know later.

There's only one background in D, and it's not Northumberland. Just in case you were referring to the background for A, that's not Northumberland either. But it is a National Park.
B isn't on the Northern either.

I'll take a shot at Maida Vale for B.

Location B: Kilburn Park - notice behind tunnel telephone [Chris M] (click for a larger version) The background to C is rather more southerly than Hadrian's Wall

Given the lack of anything resembling a limestone pavement, I'll go for the North York Moors for C background - can't be any more specific.

It's more southerly than the North York Moors, although the geology is limestone

I've seen that tea-towel-like jack on Windermere, but the surroundings look wrong. One of the other Lakes, perhaps? How about Ullswater?

I'm feeling generous so you haven't talked yourself out of the right answer - but it was close! According to rincew1nd, who took the photo, this is Lake Windemere.

It's looking south on Windermere, taken pretty much a year ago.
