Not quite four-part Friday, but plenty to go at! Question: (click for a larger version) For ease, the insets are numbered according to the diagram below

For anyone wondering where the images are, the server is currently offline for maintenance. It should be back up later.

It seems that the server had a problems that has necessitated restoring from a backup taken on Wednesday. I'm told that this is circa 21 Terabytes of data and so the copy will take "quite some time", so the quiz pictures will not likely be available until likely some time tomorrow.
Fortunately though I'm more ahead of myself with the quiz than I have been for a while (sometimes I only get the questions up a few minutes before they're posted here, but I have several days in hand at the moment) so these pictures wont need to be reuploaded and will appear as soon as the webserver is back up.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but as I get all the webspace for free I can't complain!

That clock (1) is monstrous. (And probably foreign, although it appears to be somewhere in Scotland)

Given the images were unavailable most of today, I'll leave this open until tomorrow.

Well, you have the right cities for insets 2 and 5 but that's it. The clock is in the United Kingdom but not Scotland (I can't speak to it's provenance). Some other versions: Main picture: (click for a larger version) Inset 1: (click for a larger version) Inset 2: (click for a larger version) Inset 3: (click for a larger version) Inset 4: (click for a larger version) Inset 5: (click for a larger version) Inset 6: (click for a larger version) Inset 7: (click for a larger version)

I think that inset 6 could be a photo from me.
The Paris Métro station looks as if it might be near to St-Lazare, so lignes 3/8/9 type station.
Is the main picture Rickmansworth?

The main picture is not a Met station.
Inset 6 is courtesy of yourself.
The Paris Métro station is not on lignes 3, 8 or 9. I haven't looked at a map to see if it is near St Lazarre or not.

Main photograph: Sydenham - excess fares window on southbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset 6 - approach to Woolwich Arsenal DLR? Unlike all of these insets, the DLR between King George V and Woolwich Arsenal is on-topic.

The clock will presumably be some sort of tribute to Stourbridge's railway engineering heritage, then. Unfortunately, it appears to have been designed by someone with no knowledge of either railways or engineering. He may have seen a Rowland Emett cartoon, though.
It's what a proudly-ignorant member of the public would call a 'train thing'.

Inset 3 looks like one of the old LT country area octagonal concrete bus stops. The only one I can think of that is still around is the one outside the London Bus Museum at Brooklands.

Seeing as 3 is blanked out I assume it says something other than 'bus stop'. Tram stop perhaps? IIRC there is one such stop at the Carlton Colville transport museum.

Well, I hope it's Inset 5 = Montparnasse, because that's the limit of my remembered school French stations!

I have created a complete list of two-word Paris métro stations, but I suspect that including them here would be silly and rightly incur the wrath of the moderators. None of them leap out as a definite answer.
