D is the cab of a Mk1 'slammer' and the only way that such a cab would be on topic would be if it were the 4-TC set?

I've not done a multi-part answer for a while, apologies in advance: So you all started well... Answer: Location A: Kensington Olympia - east entrance [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset A1: Brighton sea front [Chris M] (click for a larger version) tjw and melikepie take the points for those. So how about the rest of them? Inset A2: (click for a larger version) Inset A3 (click for a larger version) You also didn't get B, which is a shame as it's unmodified: (click for a larger version) tjw also spotted C: Location C: Crystal Palace - Northwest tower [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Which brings us to the controversial D. Inset/Background, well here are your clues: Location D: (click for a larger version) "Surround" D: (click for a larger version)

The unmodified version of inset A3: (click for a larger version) Don't blame rincew1nd for this one, it's my slip-up in the answer file.

No. I suspect it would be quicker by road than Underground from here to Epping.

I didn't understand it either, and confusing the question master is not a good way to win!
In any case, this isn't High Barnet but it is closer to there than it is to Epping.

Ends of branches for the link? These are the ends of branches, can you be a tiny bit more specific though? And which of our termini is the odd one out?

Presumably they are - I don't know how to phrase this but - termini at the end of a branch which has only one station on it.
If I'm right, D could be New Cross?

It's more about the branch than the station.

Are all the branches cut back except Crystal Palace, which only ever went that far?

It's more about the branch than the station. That is indeed what the answer file says, but it only says that because I appear to have had a brain failure. It is meant to say "These stations are the end of single- track station branches." meaning tut gets the point. Sorry.
