A is the "back entrance" to London Bridge, opposite Borough Market. I should have recognised it for myself, having used it regulary at one time, but the phone number on the shop front was too much of a google-temptation.

The inset in B is the interior of Alresford signal box on the Mid-Hants.

I'm guessing the link is they are all Thames river crossings
A London Bridge B Blakfriars(Bridge) C Blackwall(Tunnel) D Westminster(Bridge)
Odd one out could be Blackwall being a tunnel whilst the others are bridges or London Bridge could be the odd one out as its the only one to describe the type of crossing in the station name

Im going to go along the lines of there all on the JLE with the exception of B which is clearly somewhere else on the network not associated with the JLE

Just D and the inset in A still to get. Location A: Heathrow Terminals 123 - centre of platform opposite escalators from ticket hall [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset: Location B: Blackfriars - westbound platform butresses [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line) - Arlesford signal box [Caravelle] Location C: Blackwall - tower from eastbound platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location D: (click for a larger version) Link: These stations share their name with a bridge, except Blackwall which shares its name with a tunnel

OK What's left? We've eliminated Vauxhall, Westminster, Waterloo and Southwark as possible answers. Plus Blackfriars and London went on the answers to B and A respectively. That only leaves Lambeth, Hungerford, and the Millennium, and the only one of those that shares its name with a tube station is Lambeth (North). Can't see that winning any awards! Have I missed something?

If Lambeth North is permitted, isn't Tower Hill by the same token?
And what about Hammersmith and Cannon Street (railway) bridges?

It was stated to be close to Waterloo, and closer than Vauxhall is to Waterloo. Cannon Street would fit, and is one crossing missing from my list.

Southwark fits the award date (now revealed) but someone has already said Southwark.

It is a plaque in the ticket hall at Southwark - rincew1nd presumably didn't spot that post.

Mystery solved then! And kudos also for the composite image B. It really does look as if the signal frame is somehow behind glass between the pillars. Well done

Apologies, I saw the post with images in and mistook that for Chris's answers so didn't look at the posts above when I looked to see if anyone had said Southwark.
