Is anyone planning a Christmas quiz this year?
If so, let me know the date you'd like to start. If you aren't sure yet, let me know the latest it will be as its easier to move questions to January than to create ones I wasn't expecting to do.
If not, then let me know if you just want to continue on with the regular quiz or if you'd like something special. Ideas for something special would be most welcome if that's what you want as I don't have any off the top of my head.

I think something "special" for Christmas would be great, although I unfortunately don't have the time to offer to do something myself - at least not this year! However, if there's nothing special to be had, please do keep the daily quizzes going if possible!

How about for every day a clue for a different station by describing something related or having an object or subject that is similar? I suppose our own one-a-day version of LFL?

I'm only in the uk up until 21 dec then away for 3 weeks. I don't mind doing a week or 2 of a quiz! Maybe others can do other weeks etc.,,
A couple of examples of station clues
1. I'm an unhappy non queen 2. My organ likes a swim in the road 3. I'm on top of a fish in the ground on the swings
Any ideas?
This is the kind of clues I'd do. Maybe 10 per day?

Possibly. There are 398 (plus 39, prob minus a few) stations to play with For the purposes of the regular quiz there are 373 stations currently served by TfL services, plus 13 disused stations, 3 former TfL stations (Essex Road, North Weald and Ongar) and 2 future stations (Canary Wharf Crossrail and the new Pudding Mill Lane)

Blake Hall is counted as one of the 15 disused stations (I've just realised I was missing City Road and King William Street) as you can't catch a train from there to anywhere else. The full list is: Aldwych Blake Hall Brompton Road City Road Coopersale Halt Down Street Highgate High Level King William Street North Woolwich Osterley & Spring Grove Shoreditch Silvertown (NLL) South Quay (old) St. Mary's York Road

Already noted as a former TfL station. Basically I distinguish between "former TfL stations" that now have a service operated by someone other than TfL, and "disused stations" that have no service at all. To make it easier I've extracted the location information from the database and uploaded it to www.sucs.org/~cmckenna/photos/quizes/tqmisc/ in LibreOffice ods format, MS Excel xlsx format and PDF. Only the first of those is guaranteed to work. All the current stations are there, I think all the on-topic former and disused stations in zones 1-9 are there. Other locations are added to the database only when I take or get sent the first photo from that location (for example "Between Hillingdon and Uxbridge" is not on the list).

I think that you may have omitted Drayton Park.... What an amazing list though.

Indeed, I'll add Drayton Park as a former TfL station. Thanks.

I'm happy to run a Christmas word association quiz from December 1st until the 10th with Melikepie doing his version after that? I think this should run concurrently with Chris M's quiz. What are people's thoughts

Once December is over, should I publish all my answers to clues i gave, even stations people didn't get, or should I do a couple of days in January where people can have another attempt?
