Apparently the 73 stock will be covering for the District line engineering works from Boxing day till new year. That'll be fun!

District services will be suspended west of South Kensington on 26-30 December. A service will operate Edgware Road-Wimbledon until 1900 on 26 December only (football at Chelsea), then suspended as above.
All Piccadilly Line trains will call at all stations Hammersmith-Acton and some trains (guessing every 20mins) will serve Ealing Broadway.

JOOI, do all the Piccadilly line T/Ops sign the road into EBDY from Hangar Lane Jn.? Piccadilly drivers are not trained to EBDWY, these trains will have District pilots provided.

Rheostar - unfortunately you need to be signed in to see that pic(c)! Perhaps in the long term as part of the wider changes in staff training Picc TOps could sign the route to Ealing Broadway, irrespective of any proposed switch between District and Piccadilly.

I noted a 1973 stock train (DM 182, didn't see the other set) at Ealing Broadway yesterday, around 1.40pm.

Interesting, does that mean the sets are semi-permanent formations? I also took a shot of 199 & 182 on the 2Nov13, so they have been running together for at least a couple of weeks.

Hoping to grab a ride on the 73 stock at Ealing Broadway on Friday or next Monday. That'll be another underground oddity ticked off!

I can see it now - some confused looking faces at Ealing Broadway of people who boarded at Ealing Common expecting to go towards Rayners Lane!
Incidentally, can the 73 stock display Ealing Broadway as a destination?

Currently on a Piccadilly Line at Turnham Green, the DVA is correctly announcing each station along here. Not sure about Ealing Broadway as I came from the Heathrow branch. Also managed to do the outer (local?) line eastbound from Northfields for the first time, previously I'd only done the westbound one

To North Ealing Every 7-12 mins To Ealing Broadway Every 12-18 mins Thanks, Julian. I'm going to drive down on Sunday and leave my car at North Ealing. Plan is to concentrate on Picc trains at Ealing Broadway and using the local lines. Currently on a Piccadilly Line at Turnham Green, the DVA is correctly announcing each station along here. Not sure about Ealing Broadway as I came from the Heathrow branch. Also managed to do the outer (local?) line eastbound from Northfields for the first time, previously I'd only done the westbound one Is this use of the local lines to/ from Northfields in connection with the special service?

It did appear to be, the few trains I saw in the other direction at the time were also on the local (someone else can probably confirm if all were using it). However, at Acton Town the screen for the eastbound fast platform did show some trains, but I'm not sure if they actually used that platform or not.

As there are no District Line trains at Acton Town, the Piccadilly line will be able to use all four platforms , as to the use of the East Bound Local from Northfields this route is not used much as at Acton Town it is not Programme Machine controlled move, only a push button control from the Acton desk in the Earls Court Regulating Room.

Since nobody else has done so yet here are some photos of this extended weekends movements. The trains I saw had Ealing Common or Acton Town on the display as a destination in lieu of Ealing Broadway. I think I saw one westbound train using the fast line around 11.15 as I was approaching Ravenscourt Park, there seemed to be some congestion on the slow line at that point.
