It anywhere near the Nene, and I should have noted that we're also looking for the name of the loco in that image.

Inset 'C' could be Rievaulx Abbey.

Inset C is much closer to Monmouth than it is to Rievaulx Abbey. The link between the main locations should give you some clues.

The abbey in inset C definitely looks like Tintern, so I'd guess we're looking for the Wye Valley.

As a complete aside, I crossed the English-Welsh border 8 times the day I took this photo.

Inset A1: This might be a record for a late entry to a quiz question - only 3 months late....but I have just seen a photo of North Woolwich station with the above train visible in the background on the Museum side (late lamented). It's supposed to be Thomas the Tank Engine at the front of course but any fule kno that's not what Thomas looks like...

No problem with the timing of the entry - all questions are open until the answer is posted!
Inset A1 is at the North Woolwich Old Station Museum. The loco does (did?) have a name, which is Thomas and forms part of the link between all the locations and insets. I'll not give it out just yet, as the bump may inspire other people to have another go.
