The bonus question answer is it is American Independence day (the stars and stripes gives it away).

The station is Bond Street - eastbound headwall [ mrfs42]. It was chosen for being close to something related to US independence day, but it isn't the embassy. Too many stars. Be warned! Look more closely - there are no stars.

The American owner of a nearby department store wanted the station to be renamed after the store - Selfridges.
Hence there is an American connection.

Not quite what it says on the card, it is about what's nearby though.

The statue "Allies", portraying Churchill and Roosevelt sitting on a bench is on Bond Street (aprox. 14 Bond Street near Patek Phillipe shop).
