That would be my guess. Looks to be some 1983 stock in the background which may date it?

The date is stated as 09/09/2000.

I need to check with the date, but it could be the cab of 204 that was scrapped around that time. The unit went for refurbishment but was never done, as it was collision-damaged and only partly repaired. I do know that some trial designs were done for the Picc 1973 Stock refurb, and this may be it. Give me a day or two and I'll check my 1973 Stock records against the date.

Just possibly the remains of the tube/bus/train mockup that was used to advertise Travelcard a long time ago?

Presumably they created that by cutting up an existing spare vehicle? Does anyone know which, and what happened to the "offcuts"?

The scrapping date of DM 204 is 15/8/2000, from Horbury to Booths of Rotherham by road. So make of it what you will ......

Interesting... When was this car withdrawn? We know that the 73 stock was subject to livery experiments including a full train red front. Perhaps this withdrawn car was also experimented on?

Unit 204-604-404 was withdrawn on 22/12/90 after a collision in Northfields depot. My notes say -
DM 204 collision Northfields depot 12.12.90. Northfields to Acton Works 19.12.90, Acton Works to Ealing Common 07.01.91. Ealing Common to Cockfosters 23.04.91 for overhaul equipment 'float', pending reinstatement. Cockfosters to Ruislip 05.02.95 and from Ruislip to Bombardier Prorail (Horbury) for reinstatement and refurbishment.
The unit was not reinstated but some of it was used in trials for the forthcoming refurbishment.
The first train (866+151) had gone to RFS Doncaster in May 1993, but later went to Horbury November/December 1994.
Scrapping dates ex-Horbury to Booths by road 15/8/00 (204). 16/8/00 (604), 17/8/00 (404).

Gets more intriguing. 888 was cut up at Northfields on 29/1/93. 888 was the one damaged in the Bounds Green fire on 11/8/82.

There are two large shopping trolley type wheels under the front of the cab.

It looks nice, apart from those silly High Intensity lights next to the destination indicator. I know they still have one high intensity light to help with detrainment, so was the original plan to have two for detrainment, or were they just going to help light up the tunnels even more?
