According to the status board on the TfL website at the moment, the Piccadilly Line is shown as "Service closed" When clicking to get more details, it just gives severe delays due to a signal failure at Holborn. Was the line suspended at one point? Why would the "service closed" message be shown rather than "(part) suspended"?

Well, it is back to Severe Delays now, how weird. I would hate to be a controller today, with all these delays! Poor buggers.

It was corrected, the Network Operations Centre had a 'blonde moment'!

I am just musing, but perhaps they have a drop down menu/autocomplete thing for updating line status, and perhaps they just updated it to the wrong status, (I would imagine Severe Delays and Service Closed are fairly close together) and it was a while before they realised

The service was never closed, it was at severe delays following the problem at Holborn on the eastbound. Su31's spot on, it was a cock up at the NOC.

Don't think I've seen 'Service Closed', anyone able to confirm its meaning?

Yes even the drain has 'planned closure' on Sundays doesn't it?

Don't think I've seen 'Service Closed', anyone able to confirm its meaning? After the close of traffic at night. Have a look at the status around 3am.

Don't think I've seen 'Service Closed', anyone able to confirm its meaning? It probably means no service due to routine closure, i.e. outside traffic hours. If there is no service due to failure or other event during traffic hours then I would expect to see 'NO SERVICE due to .......' displayed. If information is to be delivered to the public at all it needs to be meaningful and honest to be of any value and apparently not knowing that it isn't is unforgivable.

Well I took a look when posting, expecting if 'Service Closed' applied to out of traffic hours it'd be on the TfL website then... Everything was running a 'Good Service'

Yes, I quite often see the online service board after traffic hours and it's as suncloud says. This isn't really a lie either, as 100% of the passenger trains scheduled are running on time (100% of 0 being 0).
