Questions appear initially in bold type with individual questions reverting to ordinary type when correctly answered Alas there are no prizes and, as this is a one-off effort, no points either.

Great quiz, stevo.
I don't know any of the answers off-hand but when I find the answer to 10 I'm going to pay that station a visit as it would really be a 'blast from the past'. I can't actually remember the last time I used a wooden escalator.

Greenford, on the CLR Extension has a wooden escalator, but you wouldn't recognise it; it's hidden beneath metal sheeting, to make it look 'modern'.

This is purely a guess, but is the answer to 15 the Central Line?
My first reaction was Victoria but then I realised that most Victoria line stations are shared with other lines that already had surface buildings and most of the new stations were far enough outside the centre that building a surface structure was not a problem.

Is the earliest train in the day one from Hammersmith? Circ/H&C

It is gantshill. You are quite correct. The answer I had was 04:45 Osterley-Heathrow but I just checked the H & C timetable and found one from Hammersmith at 04:38.

The first H&C train was mentioned in a correction in the Guardian last week and hereI think the answer to No 11 is some of the passengers from the Windrush, many of whom had come to London to work for the Underground but may have been surprised to find themselves actually living there.

13 - I think superteacher is wrong - I think it's Farringdon Street, which was relocated in 1865, only two years after it opened, when the Moorgate extension was built.

jeebolodo is correct with the answers to No. 12 and No.18 melikepie is correct with the answer to No. 16 Technically I think I am correct with number 12 as well seeing as the H&C platforms are shared with the main line ones. Anyway 13 = Hounslow Town in 1909 8 = 2008 17 = I was originally thinking Jubilee but looking at certain figures I would say Metropolitan

Superteacher is correct with No. 5 Colin D is correct with No. 1 and No. 3 norbitonflyer is certainly not wrong with No. 13 in the context of re-siting but was the original Farringdon actually demolished? I have a different answer for the actual first demolition of a station - which, incidentally, occurred before Hounslow Town opened. melikepie is obviously correct in pointing out that Paddington Station has Grade 1 listed status but, in this instance, we are dealing specifically with LUL stations which is why the answer I have for No. 12 is St. James's Park.

No. 15
We've had suggestions for Victoria, Waterloo and City and Central.
You've said that Victoria is wrong.
Can you confirm (or not) that the others are also wrong?
