I was traveling from Piccadilly Circus to Covent Garden yesterday morning about 11am and was amused (as were the rest of the passengers) by the very informative information provided by the driver as we approached each station, in my case to be told that Covent Gdn has four lifts with a capacity of 50 people plus a spiral stair case with many steps only for the very fit! I not sure if the driver was bored or just adding to the great service the Underground system gives us Londoners, but all the passengers left the train with a smile on their faces. May it long continue.

There used to be a station announcement at Covent Garden advising to take the lift rather than the stairs - Not heard it in a few years now though.

Maybe he was quoting information from Station Master App!

Be glad you only had it for a couple of stops, in the summer I had it from Caledonian Road all the way to Knightsbridge (I started a thread about this at the time). Not only did we get a full run down of lift capacities but also a list of what's on the Northern Line, how to get to Westfield and where Sainsbury's HQ is etc
There is such a thing as too much information, other passengers were giving the 'when's this nutter going to shut up' look rather than amusement

And that information about Sainsbury's Store Support Centre of day is wrong. It's at least a 10 minute walk from Holborn and Chancery Lane is closer!
