I wondered if anyone knows if the covers on the PEA units on the Jubilee/Northern/Piccadilly lines have made a difference in the number of accidental activations of the units?
I imagined them to be a huge success but wondered if that is true??!

Yeah. Quoting the November edition of On The Move magazine "In consequence lost customer hours due to accidental or deliberate activations have dropped by 95%"!

that's good news and amazing. it must be needing to lift the flap... it acts as an extra step to make you think twice... and the type of people who would pull them deliberately probably don't have the brain cells to coordinate lifting a flap and then pulling a handle...

It also means that TWO discrete actions must be taken to operate the plunger - pull the flap up, then pull the handle down. I imagine that a certain %age of activations are mischievous children, unaccustomed tourists etc.
