XF To be fair the 'electric spine' is just existing or reopened passenger lines electrified, and will see a lot of them go over to electric operation - it would be worth doing even if the freight remained diesel hauled, but that's pretty unlikely. Chris OHLE 25KV to Southampton Freightliner Terminal was the plan and then when Freightliner indicated they had invested in diesel the plan was changed and Poole added. Not denying that passengers will benefit however the freight operaters are just not interested at present! XF |
