I will plump for shadwell Would a hydraulic lift use weights? I'm sure I've seen hydraulics in the motor that uses the wires to pull the lift up/down with the weights to balance. Although I'm no expert!

I assume he used the magic wand tool and filled in panels with flat colours . Sometimes. On this occasion (and most others) I used the path tool to create a series of enclosed paths, converted the paths to selections and then filled them with flat colours. The wall and floor here were one section each, the black were linear paths that were "stroked" with the paintbrush tool. I did the same with the lines of the paths used for the lift doors.
