I was wondering who owns disused London Underground Stations?
The ones that I'm mostly interested in are Aldwych and the Northern Line Deep Level Stations.

Aldwych is London Underground Ltd., I think the others are too, but they are leased to document storage companies.

... and some, I believe may be owned by people, who, were I to mention them, would have to kill you and me...

The one at Goodge Street used to be owned by a document storage company as well. It was when I visited it using the access door on the station!

I think that ownership has always rested with LU (for the deep shelters it was originally the Government). The document storage companies, and anyone else, have only ever rented the facilities. Seven of the deep shelters have been used by LU as part of the Northern Line upgrade.

Off topic but the BRB (Residuary), the successor to the British Railways Board, still own a large number of properties and land formerly used by British Railways and its successors. A notable example in London is Waterloo International.

To the best of my knowledge, based on sstories around that chap who wants to rent them to open up businesses in, LUL own all the closed deep level stations except for Brompton Road, which is owned by the MoD - which is wh he approached them first with his proposal.

Very little chance of anything happening with any of them. It appears that Companies House received an application to dissolve the Old London Underground Company Limited (director: Adjit Chambers) on 31 July 2012 after just over a year of existence and without filing any accounts. The dissolution should be finalised this month. The Old London Underground Company Ltd (director: Adjit Chambers) which opened in 2009 and closed in 2011 also failed to file any accounts. He started up the new company the same day the old one expired. I guess we can expect the Old London Under Ground Ltd (director: Adjit Chambers) or some other variation of the name to spring up sometime next week? Third time lucky.......

The platform areas and stairs to the platforms are still owned by LUL. The MoD owns the surface and basement areas, shafts, and probably a bit of the low-level passageways. LUL might have retained a shaft for ventilation.
