Does anyone know when the work on the subway at Vauxhall station is going to be finished? It's been closed since November and the station is a pain to use at the moment. It was originally supposed to be April, then July but it was still closed this morning.
Also, is the subway being refurbished or will it still be in its old tatty state when it reopens?

There is a poster just past the Victoria line ticket barriers saying that the subway will open by 23rd July.

Managed to sneak a look when the awning was down this morning, and looks like they ARE refurbishing the subway :-)

Well, 23rd July has come and gone, and no subway opening as yet. A new glass roof has appeared at the top of the steps by the entrance to the mainline station.
But even if the subway is anywhere near finished it seems that the major work to extend the booking hall at the mainline station is taking its time. Presumably the subway won't open until the major work at the mainline station is completed?

I walked through the new subway this morning. It was open at around 8:40am. It has lost its distinctive tiling and just has the current plain style of tiles.

The subway was open by the afternoon of the 23rd. It looks much, much better than it did before. No more nasty, grimy old walls and floors, not to mention the loose ceiling tiles that I was worried would fall on me every time I used it!
Hopefully the rest of the station will one day be reufrbished in a similar style.

I do very much like where the stairs are now gently angled to the subway tunnel, replacing the "blind" 90 degree bend. Not to mention a glass canopy over the stairs. The one thing, I did notice, even though it had just opened, was how it already shows the dirt. The old traditional L.T. and very hard wearing floors, for example, were much better at not showing up dirt, stains etc. The same does apply with Underground train interiors over the last 20 years.
