A slightly belated post lamenting the 67's demise a year on. Who misses them? Who think that the change was good? And how good?

I miss them! I don't use the trains much but they are very very hot even off peak!

Progress is progress, and while most of us do mourn the railway's heritage being withdrawn, I think we all know deep down it has to be.
That said, as unpractical as it was for the Vic, I do miss the transverse seating

I don't really miss them as I use the Bakerloo a lot more than the Vic!

I certainly miss them, much more reliable, attractive and cooler than the 09s. Plus with the "defective trains" I hear about most days, on average I think my commute was quicker on the 67s. Still, I get cheaper travel thanks to the refunds for 15-minute delays, nearly £180 last year and £68 so far this year! Hooray for progress!

Speaking as a driver on the Vic, I don't miss the hot cabs, the having to keep getting up and down to change sides for the doors and trying to fight my way out of the cabs when the train was busy, what I do miss is the un-obstructed view from the cab and the lack of sensitive edge alarms!

Two sides to each coin I suppose, everybody will argue that for any rolling stock.

A slightly belated post lamenting the 67's demise a year on. Who misses them? Who think that the change was good? And how good? I think that the 09TS are an improvement, but I don't use the Victoria line often, and never in the peaks. However, after riding in the front car of the last 1967 stock service I realise what it must have been like! I don't miss the 67TS that much as the similar 72TS are still in service on the Bakerloo.

True, but the 67TS ran at higher speeds than the 72TS does, and it's that and the sound of them entering stations at speed that I miss. Whenever I think of the Victoria line, it's always that sound that comes to mind first because it's what I grew up with. The 09TS is a better train though!

As someone who actually uses the Vic for commuting, I can say that the new trains are a vast improvement over the '67s. Bigger, cooler, more accessible and (thankfully) without the ridicuylous transverse seating. Can't see why anyone would miss that - the seats wasted an enormous amount of space and were so close together that your knees were practically in the opposite person's crotch!
Most crucially of all, of course, the new trains are compatible with the signalling upgrade.

The transverse seating on the old 1967 trains actually housed the autodriver boxes on the trains - I found out once when the autodriver box kept dropping out, and a technician raised a seat to inspect the autodriver box etc. (The transverse seats were only present on the motored cars on which the autodriver boxes were installed).

I miss the 67ts as they were on my first Tube line. However the change was needed.
One was saved wasn't it?

A plethora of assorted carriages were saved, there was one four car set saved apparently for cleaners to have a go on, as well as shunting moves (London Road Depot Comes to mind). Apparently 3061 is still at Northumberland with no forward movement planned for a good long while.

Shame I couldn't of taken one for a quick spin in the depot in the early hours of this morning while I had nothing better to do!

Anyone continuing to have misplaced nostalgia for the 67ts should have taken the Vic at rush hour this morning. On a 30 degrees plus day, the 67s in rush hour would have been a hot, hellish nightmare, not to mention the lack of space. Whereas the 09s were cool and eminently bearable thanks to the forced air and greater space.

I left Victoria this morning at about 9:20 heading northbound, something I hardly ever do at that time of day. Whether it's the new signalling system shifting more people or what, it wasn't too crowded at the gateline, at the bottom of the escalators or even on the platform. I didn't thing about the head until Malcolmffc mentioned it, but he's right, it certainly wasn't too hot and not like I remember it being in recent times gone by. I'd probably need to do this journey more often not to just put it down to good luck though...

The 09ts has to be my favourite tube stock, with it's bright lighting, spacious interior and also being very fast. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the rubbish old 73ts near me (Hounslow)

Had a quick ride on the Vic yesterday and the 09's were actually bearable in terms of heat. The change in the regenerative braking rate seems to have done the trick, but it obviously has taken a while for a lot of the excess heat to be disippated from the line. Not exactly cool, but a lot less hot than some of the other trains I'd been on that day, including an A stock (T472) which had obviously been parked in the open in Neasden depot all day - best described as an oven!
Gives a new meaning to the term "hot spares!"

50 years ago you just opened the windows and problem sorted - simples. Trains therefore carried less equipment and used less power as a consequence. The world has gone mad.

In hot weather, the guard would often leave the door open when the train was moving. As a result, it was always a good place to sit!

Yes, trains do carry more equipment these days, such as...erm, air conditioning. So no need to open the windows.
I suspect Met line users have been very grateful for the S Stock over the past few days!
