The new exit at Highbury & Islington was open for the first time today. It does make the station less congested, however at the moment entering passengers heading to the down escalator cross the path of passengers from the up escalator to the new exit. Does anyone know if they intend to reverse the escalator directions to avoid this (which would also mean all the underground passages would need to swap direction as well)?

How would the Overground flows fit in with that?
Is the old exit now entrance-only?

I'm passing through right this second and shall snap one :-) Edit: www.imgur.com/LsVC3.jpg much the same as the old, but for the absence of a ticket office. There is also a lift to the Eastbound NLL platform

There is also a lift to the Eastbound NLL platform which platform that for NLL? because 3 lifts installed and shown on layout - www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/sjp/HHY/plan.htmlthis shows lifts already installed long before that new entrance just asking - that photo is at old entrance or new entrance because i am not sure the layout of station changes edit: if there new lift to deeper lines (the lower level would be nice)

The Overground platforms are all to the right and opposite the original gateline. If you look at the photo on the National Rail "station made easy" plan for the concourse you can see a hoarding line - the new exit and control room are behind that hoarding. www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/sjp/HHY/images/photos/800/o2060-0150002.jpgThere are no new lifts to the low level platforms - that would be a hugely expensive piece of work. There are no changes to the existing lift arrangements for the ELL and NLL platforms.

Ah, I'd never seen the lifts there previously, despite having regularly used the station for several years I'm a pillock
