I have heard talk of the Bakerloo Line taking over services to Watford Junction. This does not make sense to me in view of all the money spent by and on London Overground's Euston-Watford Junction operation. Surely Euston cannot be left without a stopping service to Watford Junction and no other TOC routinely serves Queens Park. If London Overground really were abandoning - or being forced to abandon - this line, perhaps the stretch of track between Euston and Queens Park in addition to north of Harrow & Wealdstone should be kitted out for LUL use. Then, a sort of two tier service for the Bakerloo Line. The current Elephant & Castle- Queens Park service extended to Harrow & Wealdstone (with occasional Stonebridge Park reversers) The current Elephant & Castle-Harrow & Wealdstone service partially extended to Watford Junction. A new Stonebridge Park-Euston service offering interchange with the other Bakerloo routes at Stonebridge Park, Harlesden, Willesden Junction, Kensal Green and Queens Park. Queens Park itself would cease to be a routine reversing point

I thought that the idea was that South Hampstead and Kilburn would be served by a Stratford - Queens Park service.

Never thought of that peterc but LO services reversing at Queens Park might be a little tricky in the midst of the Bakerloo service

The LO platforms at Queens Park are outside of the Bakerloo platforms. The HS2 connection might be more of an issue for such a service. Perhaps some LM services could be diverted onto the DC lines south of QP instead if OHLE could be installed?

Bakerloo line trains to run Stonebridge Park - Euston maybe? They already go to Kilburn High Road (not in service though!)

That was one suggestion made as part of a proposal but rules out due to Tube stock mixing at Euston or new build deep level platforms. I thought that the idea was that South Hampstead and Kilburn would be served by a Stratford - Queens Park service. That was also one of the mentioned ideas but it requires 4 tracking through Camden Road.

The rest of the route from Stratford to Camden Road is only two track with loops (but without platforms) between Highbury & Islington and Camden Road (both exclusive). An extra platform at Camden Road might help with pathing eastbound trains, but westbound services wouldn't really benefit.

There was a plan some time ago to use manual 6 car 1967 stock between Watford and Euston and divert the Overground via Primrose Hill to Stratford. It came to nothing of course.
If the Bakerloo was to serve Watford Junction then it may also run a joint service with LO. The current service is pitiful although it may be noted that the stations are quiet off peak. Those wishing to travel to Watford would use the faster LM service. Perhaps a peak hour only Bakerloo service would do? Perhaps a train every 20mins which when combined with the LO 3tph would give a train every 10mins?
I would be interested to see user stats for the route. It is certainly not a busy as the NLL which gets totally rammed in the peaks.

I love that - it's great fun. BUT - as with all these "clever ideas" why give the game away to the enemy? He says he's not actively involved any more, but even still......what do all his fellow conspirators make of it?? More open warfare.........

I believe it's mostly to do with freight needing capacity or the extra services would mean less freight paths along the NLL.

Oh yes I forgot about those freight paths. It can get quite busy along that section. I remember the ill fated Anglia cross country service that used the NLL with a Turbostar!
What chance is there of the extra tracks being reinstated at Camden Road et al?

Yes, but it has never been the plan to four track the junction west of Camden Road, which would be the real bottleneck. There have been so many different plans for services and track layouts in the area around Camden Road - Gospel Oak, it will be interesting to see what does happen in future, especially if Gospel Oak - Barking is electrified.

What chance is there of the extra tracks being reinstated at Camden Road et al? My understanding is that the northern pair of tracks are still down for reinstatement in the future, having been postponed during the recent resignalling due to money constraints.
