This is another example of where legislation passed with the best possible of motives, has gone wrong. You have NO COMPREHENSION of how much this sort of stuff (along with trivial and vexatious FOI requests), is costing the taxpayer. Of course, those who don't actually pay income tax, have time to carry on regardless.

Oooh... wonder what sort of speed you would get on descent on the Hampstead spiral!?? Not a bad idea... mind you... got to be better than sliding down the middle of a set of escalators and meeting a stop diamond on the way down!

At Hampstead you could go down the slide and get up enough speed to get to Belsize Park without the need for a train!

Make a great April Fools gag, to suggest that TfL are going to install slides at Underground stations.

I've always though the W&C travelators at Bank would be a great place for a slide, as they're not as steep as normal escalators! It'd be great for getting past people who block them with luggage, or don't stand on the right. I did wonder whether you could fit a zipwire along the top of the adjacent passageway as well!
I'm also surprised nobody's ever tried skateboarding down the passage to the W&C at Bank. It's a nice gentle downhill gradient with a few short stairway jumps, and a long one at the end to break something on! :-)

It's been done, at least twice. As I heard, the end result on one occasions was the thigh bone pushed up rather fast through the pelvis (with both being broken in the process). Makes my eyes water just thinking about it. The other occasion of which I'm aware was someone who had a broken leg (in a cast), and didn't want to stand on the escalator. Needless to say, the following day both legs were in casts. Just don't do it...

There are plenty of helter skelters still around, several travelling funfairs have them. More permanently near you there are apparently ones at Skegness and Cleethorpes. There doesn't seem to be a permanent one in London (unless you count the olympic tower thing), but there was one at the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
