If you stand on the west end of the westbound platform (beyond the canopy) and look towards the exit you can see the tall wall of windows which is the ticket hall. Just to the right of this is a smaller wall with a window in it. This room is (or was) accessible from a trapdoor in the ceiling of the ladies loo.
Was this room really built just for architectural symmetry?
If it was then what a philistine world we live in today where cost is the god.

Could be that aside from giving symmetry it houses (or housed plant) to give it function?
