"The trains will now be repainted in heritage colours, as will stations at Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. " Great news, that dinosaur livery ( flickr.com/photos/brapps/185770248/ ) makes me sick!

They are regrettably (at least when I was over there some months back) rusting badly. We knew that this would happen. There was concern in discussions we had in LURS when the old Standard Stock was to be replaced that the salty air around the Pier Head and the pier itself would cause havoc with the under-floor electrical controls ...the Standard Stock at least had control cabinets.
However praise where praise is due, and the staff on Island Line are really nice and friendly, and the engineers do an amazing job.

I'm glad the Island Line is getting some money pumped into it now, even if it is just a paint job. As Oracle said, the staff on the Island Line are great. When I visited, I had so many little chats with the station staff, the drivers and even the guards, who all wore a smile! Hmm, wonder if I can get there this weekend!

I must admit that I am surprised that the 38ts is still going almost 70 years later. I would love to return to the IOW just to ride them again.
Whatever happened to the plan to reopen the line to Ventnor? I can remember quite a few years ago that there was discussion of re-opening this line. I'm pretty sure there was a model of the proposed station made, complete with 38 ts.

Ventnor tunnels have cables etc running through them now; there is probably nowhere for the station building anyway. The trackbed has been built on south of Shanklin. Such a darned shame.

The Ventnor tunnels are also use to bring the water supply to the town; there is a storage tank near the Ventnor end.
