A single part question today, and there's a bonus point for working out why this was chosen for today: *Click image for a larger version*

Is today 50 years to the day that steam was withdrawn from the Met, and the Met ceased running beyond Amersham?
Complete guess for the location: Moor Park?

Paddington, footbridge from the H&C platforms to the BR platforms. Erm the reason is somthing to do with the Metropolitan line?

Is today 50 years to the day that steam was withdrawn from the Met, and the Met ceased running beyond Amersham? If, as we are told, the very first A stock ran on June 12th 1961, it seems unlikely there would be enough to run the full Amersham service the next day. According to CULG, electrification to Amersham was opened on September 12 1960 and the LU steam service to Aylesbury ceased a year later (last day September 10th 1961).

Paddington, footbridge from the H&C platforms to the BR platforms. Certainly looks like it. Can even see a bit of pink/yellow line on the floor. Strange to see it devoid of people though; since the Circle became the Snail, that part of Paddington has become massively overcrowded, and a nightmare in the peaks.
